Reapers of Souls and Magic

Book One of The Rohrlands Saga

First, the Gods created the Rohrlands, then they created the Elfaheen to breathe life into their barren world. The Elfaheen filled the world with mystical creatures and lived in peace. Until pride, envy, and rebellion blossomed. Filled with dark desire, Lavalor led thirteen Elfaheen to create Asmordia and in their arrogance, they inadvertently created the multitudes of multiverses, including Earth. Now, the arrival of three outworlders, from the realm of Earth, have entered the Rohrlands setting off the Im’Shallene – the end of all things.Filled with innocence and naivety, the Elfaheen, Tetra, is forced to ally with Lavalor to save both the Rohrlands and his corrupted realm, Asmordia. To do this, Tetra must find the outworlders and either send them back or kill them. Along the journey, Tetra faces the realization that she not only battles against Lavalor’s desire of rule and independence from the Gods, but also her own undiscovered inner demons.

Reviews for "Reapers of Souls and Magic"

"I enjoyed reading Reapers of Souls and Magic as I edited it. I haven't typically read a lot of fantasy books, but I did find myself engrossed in the story, especially when it included elements of inter-dimensional travel as an introduction to another world. And while there are a lot of characters to keep track of, I found myself getting attached to certain ones and liking when the scene changed back to them. R.E. Fisher does an excellent job of making the characters have different personalities, and I found some of the dwarves endearing and felt for the plights of Laz, Ollie, and Dmitri. Overall, the book is a good read, and I think fans of fantasy will enjoy the story as well as the rest of the saga to come!" - Tamara Beach (4 of 5 stars, Goodreads)

"I really enjoyed reading this first book of the Rohrlands Saga. R.E. Fisher has created a world that I found engaging, with a layered plot that found myself turning the page to find out how they would eventually converge. I liked that he didn't shy away from creating a character or two who weren't perfectly upstanding individuals. Too many authors want to create likable characters, that they miss the wonderful complexity of those characters who have questionable pasts. Tetra was my favorite (loved the dragons - always love dragons), and I look forward to seeing how the events of this book change her in the next. Can't wait for book 2." - Anne Willow (4 of 5 stars, Goodreads)

"Complex, Intricate and Spellbinding High Fantasy. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. "Reapers of Souls and Magic" is a rich, diverse and multi-layered epic novel in the genre of high fantasy. I think the author's imagination is intense, powerful and staggering as he has fashioned an entirely original and multifaceted world. The novel pits Tetra and the godlike Elfaheen with their golden dragons against Lavalor, a monstrous antagonist who has encased his soul in a sword. Caught up in this swirling world of dark elves, murderous gods and impending apocalypse (Im'Shaleen) is Dmitri, an airman abused as a child, who lands in the Rohrlands after his plane hits the boundary between the worlds. The book allies influences from European mythologies to alternate history, and speculating about what will happen in the near future. This could date the book quickly, but not necessarily, look at "Nineteen Eighty Four" which remains as compelling as it was when that date was far into the future. While there is enough imagination and plot development for ten novels, and while the author is one of the most extraordinary world builders I've ever seen, I found the book to be hard to follow do the large number of characters introduced at beginning, the speed with which point of view changes and the sweeping backstory. This is not uncommon in high fantasy, but I think the author could be more sparing in the amount of information dished out all at once, and instead work these events into the main action, as I struggle to keep track of who's what type of a creature, especially if characters are transitory or referred back to as part of an earlier legend. That said, this novel is an extraordinary feat for any human being, and has an unparalleled ability to interweave the mindblowing and fantastical interactions of gods, demons and elves with the everyday lives of ordinary human beings. The emotive descriptions both shock the reader and draw him in." - L.E. Lecaille (4 of 5 stars, Goodreads)

"An amazing tale with many twists and turns. It kept me hooked and wanting more. R E Fisher takes you on a whirlwind tour of emotions and action. Great characters that leap from the page and you can connect with. Reapers of Souls and Magic is one of the best stories I have read for some time and I cannot wait to read more that this author will write. Highly reccommend this book to escape into and get lost in amongst its pages." - Loraine Conne ( 5 of 5 stars, Goodreads_

"I'm a sucker for a fantasy novel that transports me into another world. Reapers of Soul's and Magic didn't disappoint. RE Fisher did a fantastic job of melding two worlds. I can't wait to delve into the second chapter of The Rohrlands Saga. Although I will take a pass on living there, lol." - Linette Dee (4 of 5 stars, Amazon)

"Throughout the book, we are introduced to dwarves, elves, shelflings, a talking bear, mercenaries, dragons, mages, demons, and a host of other characters that we’d either like to take home with us or punch in the face. The various starting storylines are woven together brilliantly, with plenty of interesting subplots and sidelines, magic, death, deception, and the strength of friendship and the bonds of brotherhood forged through trials and hardships...The imagery is great and the descriptions of various characters, particularly the demons (you’ll just have to read it to see!). There are other moments of pure descriptive magic, such as a sunset that I can still picture in my mind, and the description of the Guarded Isles – creative brilliance. I continue to be so impressed by the creativity in this book and, despite some of the writing/editing weaknesses, I want to know more. I want to know what happens to Tetra and the outworlders and the rest of the characters. There are so many options for more stories and as the writing develops even further, I see so much promise for this saga in ALL its iterations.

Pulling together all the positives and negatives for the book, I give it four stars." - Cari Jehlik (4 of 5 Stars, carijehlik.com)

Sunrise & Blood

A Rohrlands Tale

Kidnapped as a child and sold into slavery, On'risa is determined not to be ruled by her past—or by the wicked kingdom of Philanthis. Rising from slave to become the Captain of the Ag'ita, she is soon betrayed by the leaders of her house, and her response? Mutiny.

The Philanthian Empress, Sisci'ta, covets Falk Isle, wishing to use it as a place to wage war against Kaloriador. She has vowed to have both, destroying one of the raiders’ few remaining safe harbors.

Forced to become a defender of the innocents living on Falk Isle along with her bloodthirsty and cutthroat companions, On'risa struggles to balance her own needs and desires with those she has chosen to defend against the kingdom of Philanthis. Can she achieve what she desires without losing all she's gained?

Reviews for "Sunrise & Blood"

"Swashbuckling pirates, dwarves, elves, an evil empress, her even more evil niece, sword fights, battles at sea and a cast of colorful characters combine to create an entertaining novel full of action, intrigue, romance and magic. For the most part the writing is excellent, and the occasional literary lapses are the only reason I didn't give this thoroughly enjoyable book a 5-star rating.

Dive into the world the author has created and lose yourself in it for a while; I don't think you'll be disappointed." - Perry Martin (4 of 5 Stars, Amazon)

"The world building in Sunrise and Blood is incredibly strong. Some of the best I’ve seen. Fisher has created his own language and it’s beautiful. I love the strong women who are not just thinly written copy cats, but live and breathe on the page. It reminds me of World of Warcraft lore, where they take characters and give them full, detailed back stories. It feels like an epic adventure. Highly recommend." - MK (5 of 5 Stars, Amazon)

"The story of Sunrise & Blood drew me in, containing some of the locations and a few mentions of characters from Fisher's Reapers Book 1 while still maintaining an entirely separate plot line. I found the vicious pirate characters fascinating and the love story sweet and riveting. This standalone book is great for readers who want to get a taste of the world or see just what kind of characters Fisher concocts before diving into Reapers Book 1. Crafty schemes, betrayal, and magic are just some of the elements of this book that won't disappoint! " - Tamara Beach,(4 of 5 Stars, Goodreads)

"This side tale to the Rohrlands Saga of books is fantastic. R E Fisher has written an incredibly strong female main character, who is kick-ass and knows what she wants and expects those around her to deliver it. A tale of deception, intrigue and battle. Things are not always as you expect them to be.  Amazing twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat and then shook my expectations to the floor. You will not be disappointed in the rich and complex characters that belong in the world R E Fisher has created. I loved it from the first opening words and couldn't put it down. The story is so immersing you can almost taste the salt air and hear the sounds. A must read!!!" - Loraine Conn, (5 of 5 Stars, Goodreads)
